This amazing one-of-a-kind jacket would be a great vintage find without the customization, but the hand-crafted Grateful Dead stitching and design put this over-the-top. The ‘big E’ Levi’s trucker jacket itself appears to be 1960’s early 70’s based on its features and button stamps (521).
See the photos for full details, but the jacket uses a mixture of patching and stitching to create this one-of-a-kind item. The visible frays and a few dark spots on the arm add to the charm, and are just part of the overall design. The only other alteration you can’t really see from the photos is where the four diagonal inner seams (under the front pockets) have been opened (the outer seam of each is still intact). There’s no size tag in this jacket, but it is a small based on measurements (see below for specifics).
Tag type: Big E
Button number: 521
Length (collar to hem): 25″
Chest (pit to pit): 18.5″
Sleeve length (shoulder seam to wrist): 23″
